Student Health Services offers several options for STI testing.
Self-directed STI Testing
If the patient does not have symptoms or if they have not been exposed to an STI, they can get STI testing without an appointment. They can go directly to the Student Health Services lab, fill out a form, and get tested on a walk in basis.
- The patient must arrive before 3:00 p.m. for self-directed testing.
- A patients can access self-directed STI testing every 3 months.
- If patient has concerns about oral or anal exposure, they should contact their health care provider to discuss testing options. They can make an appointment by calling their Provider's Group.
Same Day Appointment or Urgent Care
If the patient has symptoms, we recommend they be tested through Urgent Care or a same day appointment. For same day appointments, patients should call (858)534-8089 and ask for a same day appointment.
When you have symptoms, making a same day appointment or going to Urgent Care is important as specimens from affected sites may be needed.
Patients may also schedule an appointment with their health care provider to be screened for STIs.
Test results will be available in 3-5 days. A message about the results will be sent through MyStudentChart. All students must register and activate MyStudentChart in order to receive a message about your results.
Lab staff cannot provide results.
If you wish to obtain a copy of your result, please submit a Medical Record Request through MyStudentChart. A Medical Record Request can be found after selecting Medical Records under the Health Tab.
Student Health Services is required by law to report any diagnosis of Syphilis, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea or HIV to the Communicable Disease Office of the County Public Health Department.
