STI Fact Sheets
Learn more about the following STIs via fact sheets provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Many STIs show no signs or symptoms. That is why it is important to get tested for STIs on a regular basis.
Health Promotion Services recommends you get tested for STIs at the following times. Your health care provider can also help you determine how often to get tested for STIs.
- Every year
- Every time you switch sexual partners
- Anytime you have unprotected sex
- Anytime you have symptoms
Depending on the type of sex you are having, there are 3 anatomical sites you can get tested for STIs such as chlamydia and gonorrhea.
These 3 sites include the THROAT, RECTUM, and GENITALS.
Therefore it is important to let your health care provider know what sexual behaviors you are engaging in and ask them about 3-site testing so they can determine the best STI tests for you to get.
