Career Services Center

  • Career Assessments
    • Need help deciding on a major or making career decisions?  The Career Services Center offers two free self-assessment tools that can help you gain a better understanding of your interests, values, skills, and personality. FOCUS is a self-paced, online career and education planning tool which enables you to self-assess your interests, skills, personality and values and explore career fields and major areas of study that are most compatible with your assessment results. TypeFocus assesses your personality type and offers insight into career choices that best fit your personality. We encourage you to make an appointment with a career advisor to review your results.
  • Career Exploration Panels
    • Attend panel presentations during Fall and Winter quarters to meet and make contact with professionals in your chosen career field and learn more about what career options are available. Hear professionals discuss their career paths, education, typical daily tasks, skills and qualifications.
  • Discover Your Dream Career Workshop

    • The purpose of this workshop is to introduce undergraduate students to the career development process and assist them with choosing a career path that is compatible with their skills, interests, values and personality type. You will take career assessments, participate in a variety of career exploration activities, and develop an action plan that will assist you in choosing a career
  • Obtaining an Internship or Part-Time Job
    • Participating in an internship or part-time job can have wide-ranging benefits.  But with so many options available, which one is right for you?  Come learn strategies for successfully searching internship and part-time job listings to locate the best opportunity for YOU.
  • Career Portfolio
    • The Online Career Portfolio is a web-based interactive tool that allows you to: Identify and build skills that employer’s value; store or link to your resume, references, and work samples. Create an online presentation of your skills, accomplishments and experiences to share with employers, advisors, faculty and others.

  • Questioning Career Transitions

    • A five-session series, aims to help Ph.D. students work through questions about continuing an academic career track, discern types of work and environment that match individual skills and personality, identify transferable skills developed as a Ph.D. student, andexamine values, priorities, alternatives, and goals for career next steps.   • Graduate Woman in Science

    • A support group for women in the science fields where women are underrepresented.  Discussion topics are selected by group members.   This group will facilitate the development of: 1) a sense of community where each person enjoys a feeling of belonging, 2) support toward the attainment of goals, 3) self-empowerment in creating and maintaining visions for one’s personal and professional life.   • Medical Students and Partners Relationship Forum
