Academic Success

CAPS

  • Goals in Action Workshop
    • The Goals in Action workshop will start up again for the Fall quarter. Dr. Courtney Peraza head up this popular workshop. Here's the info: • What: 3 (1 hour) workshops that promote academic success and enhance emotional well-being.
    • Focus: Goal setting, time management, accessing resources on campus, self-care and the promotion of healthy behaviors.

Libraries

  • The UC San Diego Libraries are composed of nine separate libraries with services and programs designed to support the academic and programmatic pursuits of the UCSD faculty, students and staff.

OASIS

  • The mission of OASIS is to help UCSD students reach their full potential by developing their appreciation for learning and their ability to learn effectively. OASIS does this by providing stimulating individual and group assistance to all registered UCSD undergraduates in a friendly, motivating environment designed to keep students on track for academic success.
  • Math and Science Tutorial Program
    • For students who want to improve and excel in Math 3/4/10/20 series, Chem 4/6/140 series, Biology and Physics.
      • Workshops to review course material.
      • Drop-in Study Tables staffed by tutors.
  • Language Program
    • Language and writing assistance for ESL students and students studying Spanish and French.

      • Grammar/mechanics sessions
      • Composition workshops
      • Practice of English, Spanish, and French
      • Feedback on rough drafts

Student Health Services

  • Men's Health Info Session

    • Sexual Health Information Sessions geared specifically to men are conducted by peer health counselors and offered during academic quarters. Topics include birth control and safer sex options, sexually transmitted diseases, and routine male exams. These sessions are conducted by peer health counselors, and there is no charge for this service. Check this link for specific days and times: Mens Clinic at Student Health. You can also arrange a private info session by calling a Health Educator at (858) 534-1824.
  • Sexual Health Info Session

    • During the fall, winter and spring quarters, Sexual Health Info Sessions are offered by our Health Education Department. Both men and women are encouraged to attend the class, and it is required for women prior to their first requesting a primary exam, STD screening, or for first-time birth control prescription. Sexual partners are welcome to attend as well.
      • If you have any questions, please call a Health Educator at 858-822-5382 or log onto http://studenthealth.ucsd.edu  to check for days and times.
  • Nutrition Counseling

    • During academic quarters, we provide nutrition counseling through our registered dietitian and dietetic interns. This service includes a computerized assessment of your nutritional requirements and follow-up visits as needed. If you do not have SHIP, there is a $20 fee per visit. Make an appointment online or call Central Scheduling at (858) 534-8089.
